Which Maya Temples should I choose?

Choosing the Temples which are right for you does depend on personal preference and not difficulty of the Ruins. The length of Tour also will make a decisive factor. Altun Ha is perhaps one of the easiest Maya Temples to explore due to proximity to Belize City. Lamanai is perhaps the most exotic location due to the boat ride on the New River, if you ever wanted to be on a National Geographic Magazine© documentary Lamanai is for you! Xanantunich will take you to the edge of Belize between Belize and the Guatemala border, the landscape at Xanantunich (as well the incredible Ruins) is truly mesmerizing.

How do we get there?

The Tours start from Belize City which will also offer you a Belize City Tour on the way to the Maya Temples as well as upon your return at the end of the Tour. All tours are organized in small groups, we only utilize 14 to 16 seater vans for the travel to the Temples. All vans have A/C and come with your own Guide and Driver. Our Guides are bi-lingual in English and Spanish upon request. All Tours in Belize require a minimum of 50 minutes of Travel time from Belize City, the private comfortable vans will make a difference in your travels enjoyment.

Belize Altun Ha Maya Temples

Belize offers exemplary Mayan Ruins, these ancient Mayan Temples were once Cities, Towns, Religious Temples and major trade posts for the ancient Mayan civilization. Once hidden in thick jungle the Mayan Temples of Belize have since been restored to their original splendor, one cannot help but feel the ever-present Mayan Spirit when visiting these spectacular sites.

Altun Ha is a clear example of the Mayan architectural accomplishments well over 2000 years ago. Altun Ha is one of the most famous Mayan Centers, founded around 600bc, perhaps a few centuries earlier, the Mayan Center was undoubtedly one of the smallest but extremely important Trading Post for the Mayan Civilization at the time. Altun Ha is located close to the Belize City Port, a short 50 minute drive from the Cruise Ship Terminal. The Temples and manicured grounds at Altun Ha make a visit to this magnificent ancient City a fantastic family oriented activity. You will not find steep hills or sudden drop-offs, instead you will walk over smooth, well kept grass, you will be able to simply admire all the structures or walk to the top of some of the most majestic Mayan Temples to be found in Central America.

Our Licensed Guides will meet you right at the Belize City Port, inside the Cruise Ship Arrival Area, a few steps from your tender. All of our guides are licensed by the Belize Department of Tourism and will personally drive you to the Mayan Temple of Altun Ha and will personally walk with you throughout this magical Ancient Mayan City.

Your Guide will personally Guide you through our the Altun Ha Temples, our Groups are very small and you will experience an interactive Tour of Altun Ha in the privacy of a 14 person max Altun Ha Tour in Belize group. All of our Guides were born nearby the Ruins and their knowledge of the local area, the Ruins and Maya culture is unsurpassed. As before mentioned the Temples are very easy to navigate and perfect for all ages and capabilities.

You may also add the Rainforest Exploration (Altun Ha with Rainforest Explore $42.50usd per passenger) with your Tour of Altun Ha. The Rainforest Exploration consists of an exploration of the many paths found surrounding Altun Ha. These ancient roads where carved by the Maya in order to provide trade routs to adjacent Maya villages. The flora and fauna found nearby the Temples is magnificent and you will be able to admire one of the most pristine areas on Earth. The Rainforest exploration is approximately 1hr following your Altun Ha Tour.

All excursions are organized to depart according to each individual Cruise Ship Arrival and Departure Time in Belize. All excursion departures differ from day to day depending on the Ship in Port in order to assure an adequate meeting time at the Port as well as a safe return back to the Port before your Ship's departure.

Tips: Wear comfortable shoes, or comfortable sandals or tennis shoes. Sunscreen is also recommended. Water, soft drinks and snacks can be purchased at the Altun Ha entrance.
